Cloudistics Ignite Software-Defined Control (SDC) manages the on-premise infrastructure. SDC automates and orchestrates infrastructure provisioning in real time to achieve complete vertical hardware and software integration. Cloudistics Ignite federates and abstracts all physical hardware into a cloud service.
The Cloudistics hardware is completely cloud managed, which makes it easy for you to build, manage and monitor your cloud from any browser. And because the cloud software applaince is managed in the cloud, it’s continually getting better, with free upgrades and new features.
The cloud software appliance network, storage and compute components are designed to work seamlessly with each other. When the units are powered on, the Ignite Cloud Controller automatically detects the resources and enables high-speed connectivity between them. You can drill down from the switch ports to the storage and compute resources and even cycle power devices remotely, resulting in fewer truck rolls and need for onsite assistance.
The network block is an SDN router which connects the Cloud Controller to your environment. It manages all north/south and east/west traffic within the Cloudistics infrastructure without impacting your current environment.
The SDN router decouples control, data and management traffic into different planes. This allows Cloudistics to deliver predictable performance that scales linearly between compute and storage.
It is the control point for the on-premises cloud infrastructure—the brains of the infrastructure.
The cloud software appliance Network block SDN router is a high-density, ultra-low-latency ToR switch that features 48 x 10GbE SFP+ and 6 x 40GbE ports (or 72 x 10GbE ports in breakout mode). It is built for peak performance with up to 720Gbps (half-duplex), 1.44Tbps (full-duplex) and sub 600ns latency.
The network block is driven by our simpler, smarter and open-standards based network virtualization software that is 50x faster than current network virtualization solutions available today.
Built-in micro-segmentation functionality allows you to control communication and security between applications with a few clicks.
Built on the Dell FX2 chassis, the Compute block is a highly modular 2U rack-based enclosure. The architecture enables compute workloads to scale quickly, simply and as needed without the expense and inefficiency of overprovisioning. Each block can contain between 2 and 8 compute nodes powered by the latest Intel® Xeon® processors. There is no upper limit to the maximum number of compute blocks. Customers can start with one node and scale to thousands of nodes.
The compute nodes are driven by our open KVM-based compute virtualization software (and other software that supports network virtualization). It supports full- and para-virtualization, live migration, CPU/memory/storage oversubscription and CPU and memory hot-plug. It also natively supports stateless and stateful Docker containers with close to bare-metal performance and density, while preserving HA, failure isolation and live migration of containers.
Built on the Dell FX2 chassis, the storage block is built on a highly modular 2U rack-based enclosure technology. The architecture enables storage capacity and performance to scale linearly and quickly and as needed without the expense and inefficiency of overprovisioning. There is no upper limit to the maximum number of storage blocks. With storage federation, customers can start with one storage block and scale to Exabytes of capacity.
The storage block is driven by our storage virtualization software. It simplifies storage management by eliminating clusters, the need to set up RAID groups, export LUNs, or set up multi-pathing (drop or set up clustering). Unlike storage virtualization approaches based on shared file systems (for instance, VMware VMFS), we provide high-performance shared direct block access. Enterprise-grade storage functionality includes thin provisioning, snapshots, cloning, integrated backup and asynchronous replication.
